Working
for the Man
Bolanic Productions Ltd
has been formed out of the team that brought the Born To Boogie
film back to life and the team behind the 30th Anniversary Celebrations
held at Shepherds Bush Empire in September 2007. Its aim
is to act as a focal point for all Marc Bolan related sites and
to herald any new projects relating to Marc Bolan and his music.
The Story so far...
Having been 'Publisher' of Marc’s Wizard Catalogue from
the mid 80's, Brian Dunham joined forces with certain
Bolanistas in 2002 to try and achieve commercial release of
some of the best ‘live’ T. Rex performances ever filmed.
It took 3 years to achieve, but the resulting DVD of “Born
to Boogie” is a testament to what Ringo Starr felt at
the time, “these guys are bigger than the Beatles!"
Brian and his team managed to put T. Rex back at # 1 in the
DVD charts when released in May 2005.
They then worked with
Demon Records to compile a collection of TV Shows / clips
etc from around the World for release in 2006. Never
available in this format before the resulting DVD entitled “T.
Rex on TV” was definitely worthy of a place in any Bolan
Fan’s collection. This release achieved # 3 in June
2006.
Arising
out of a brief conversation with Rolan whilst was in LA in February
2006 – preserving certain tracks that wound up on ‘The Final
Cuts’ album – they then got together a ‘united front’ including
the Official Marc Bolan Fan Club and
with the backing of the PRS Members Fund, pulled together the
Shepherds Bush Empire Concert in 2007 – the rest of that story
is documented elsewhere on this website.
They also achieved Silver
Disc status with “T. Rex Greatest Hits” in 2007
thanks to a TV Marketed package released through Universal.
In the process Brian developed an ambition to build a
'monument to Marc Bolan’ in the form of a Theatrical Show.
Maybe also adding a new chapter to the Legend of MARC BOLAN!
Bolanic Productions
believe that there is a powerful story in the Life, the
Music, the Mischief and the Magic in Marc's own life – so
they have written a Book - including figments of his
imagination - such as the Wizard!
The goal has been to
create a piece of musical theatre based around events in
Marc Bolan’s life and featuring mainly songs written by Marc
Bolan.
